How to Be an IRS Registered Agent
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) offers governmental employment to eligible individuals. As with most government jobs, the job security and benefits offered exceed those of most private sector jobs. An enrolled IRS agent will represent taxpayers in front of the IRS. Enrolled agents represent a plethora of taxpayers, multiple tax matters and have flexibility to work in a variety of offices. While the selection process poses a challenge, you can apply to become an IRS enrolled agent with relative ease.

Pass a background check. The IRS holds employees to a high ethical standard. If you have a criminal history, you will have minimal chances of obtaining employment as an enrolled IRS agent.
2Take the Special Enrollment Examination (SEE). You can apply for the test through the IRS website. If you attain a passing score, you will be considered for employment. If you already work for the IRS, you will not need to take the exam if you meet technical requirements in your current position.
3Apply for the position. You can find the application on the IRS website. Remain patient; the process can take up to 10 months to get hired. Once contacted, respond quickly and professionally to maximize your chances of employment.
