How to Apply for a Presidential Pardon for IRS Dept Penalty

The president of the United States, pursuant to the Article II, Section 2, Clause 1 of the United States Constitution, may pardon federal crimes or remit fines. Presidential pardons are obtained by filling out an application and submitting it to the Office of the Pardon Attorney in the United States Department of Justice. You will not be considered for a pardon if you have any other judicial or administrative relief available to you, which includes administrate appeals of your IRS penalty.

Instructions

    Navigate to the website for the Office of the United States Pardon Attorney. Download the Petition for Commutation of Sentence form (see Resources).

    Check the box for "Remission of Fine and/or Restitution Only." Fill out the form with the relevant information. Sign and date the form.

    3

    Mail your signed petition to the Office of the Pardon Attorney (see Resources).
